For example, if their organization is dynamic and forward thinking, but your leadership style is laid back, they won’t hire you.

  1. No one is autocratic now. An autocratic style of leadership is one where the leader controls all the decisions and takes little or no input from their team members. Now, this style of leadership is often used in the military and the emergency services, such as the fire service and the police. Sometimes this style of leadership is referred to as authoritarian leadership style.
  2. No two is affiliates of now. Affiliated leaders encourage their team to work in harmony. They seek to quickly sold conflict, and they will promote a happy and positive working environment. Affiliated leadership is great in organizations where team members have to work very closely together and support each other to complete tasks.
  3. Leadership style number three is coaching, so a coaching leadership style is one that encourages people to continually improve and ultimately reach peak performance. Now, often a coaching style of leader will work on mindset and team behaviors, and they are well suited to organizations where a culture of empowerment and fulfillment are the priority.
  4. Leadership style number four is democratic. Now, a Democratic leadership style is one that encourages team members to become actively involved in the decision making process, so a democratic leader will often ask their team members for their opinions before making decisions. Leadership style.
  5. Number five is laissez faire now. A laissez faire leadership style is one that allows team members to get on with tasks with little supervision or monitoring. A laissez faire style leader places full trust in his or her team members, and they only ever get involved when absolutely necessary. Leadership style.
  6. Number six is pace setting. Now, a pace setting leader values results more than anything else. They set the pace and they expect people to follow. Now this leadership style can be often found in high pressure work environments where managers and leaders are expected to achieve difficult targets.
  7. Leadership style number seven. Before I give you the example, scripted answer is transformational. I like this one now. Transformational leaders inspire people, and they encourage their teams to embrace changes that often allow the organization to maintain their position as a market leader. Transformational leaders are usually energetic people who are driven to succeed.

Scripted answer

Let me now give you my example. Top scoring answer to that difficult interview question, What’s your leadership style? Here we go.

  • My leadership style is a combination of autocratic coaching and transformational.
  • I use these three different styles based on the needs of the organization I am working for. For example, when we are under pressure and working towards very tight deadlines, I will be autocratic when I am undertaking performance reviews with my staff. I will utilize a coaching style of leadership because I want my team to grow, develop and be the best versions of themselves possible.
  • Finally, whatever the organization is going through a period of change, I will use a transformational style of leadership to inspire and motivate my team towards implementing the changes needed to help the company maintain its position as a market leader.
